The Valtion Eläkerahasto (VER) was established in 1981 by the State Treasury of Finland in order to prepare for future pension costs and balance pension expenditure. VER is less than half the size of KEVA, the other large Finnish PPF, and it maintains a much more moderate investment profile, with just 10% allocated to alternative asset classes. The fund has a staff of less than 40, who are all government officials. The fund is a strong advocate for responsible investing, and a signatory member of UNPRI.
