Tawoos Group LLC is one of Oman's oldest and largest family-owned conglomerates, founded in 1982 by HH Sayyid Shabib bin Taimur Al Said and chaired by co-founder Samir J. Fancy. From early trading interests in defence and hydrocarbons, it grew into a diversified operating group spanning agriculture, power and telecommunications, industrial catering, operations and maintenance, energy, marine and, most recently, private healthcare. In 1996 Tawoos became the first Omani family business to list on the Muscat Securities Market, floating its services arm as Renaissance Services SAOG, in which it remains an anchor shareholder. It is today estimated to hold roughly US$ 3 billion in assets.
