Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System was established based on The Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement Act which became effective on effective July 1, 1919. PSERS has been serving the public-school employees of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PSERS' assets have grown from US$ 6 billion in 1982 to US$ 73 billion in 2021.
