Investor profile

The OPSEU Pension Trust is a legal trust formed by two plan sponsors, Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and the Government of Ontario. It is the smallest one among the Big 10 Canadian PPFs, but its aggressive investment strategy, with 61% of the portfolio placed in alternative assets, makes it an interesting investor. In fact, it may have been the Canadian PPF that may have navigated the crisis best, with a public equity loss estimated at “only” USD 0.4 billion.
