The New Zealand Superannuation Fund (NZ Super Fund) was created in 2001 as a Government savings vehicle designed to help pre-fund the rising cost of universal retirement benefits in NZ. It is a Crown-Owned fund financed by capital contributions from the NZ government. All New Zealanders aged 65 and over are eligible to receive NZ superannuation payments. It is an active co-investor (e.g. alliance with AIMCo and ADIA in 2013) and very vocal about best practices for transparency and sustainability issues.
