The National Investment Corporation (NIC) is a privately held Abu Dhabi investment and property-development company, established in 1999 and chaired and majority-owned by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of the UAE's late President. NIC was created to develop the emirate's Breakwater (Marina) district and remains best known for Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi's flagship shopping destination opened in 2001. Beyond retail, its roughly US$ 3 billion portfolio spans luxury residential compounds, offices, and the Fairmont Marina hotel, with interests extending—via affiliated SBK Holding—into hospitality, petrochemicals, and aviation.
