Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) is the Government of Malaysia’s strategic investment fund. It has since 2014 a dual structure with a Commercial Fund primarily for investment overseas and a Strategic Fund mainly for domestic assets. In 2018, as part of 1MDB’s investigation, the Board’s 12 Directors resigned and were replaced by a provisional set of governors, until the new ones took office in April 2020. In an attempt to cut costs and save the mandate, the Fund has recently closed operations in London and Istanbul.
