The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) is a non-governmental, non-profit development fund established by Royal Decree in 2001 at the initiative of His Majesty King Abdullah II to serve as an institutional umbrella for national development. Headquartered in Amman, it channels resources into human-capital and infrastructure projects across Jordan's governorates. Rather than managing a financial reserves portfolio, KAFD invests directly through a group of development companies—including the National Microfinance Bank, Oasis 500, Ma'an Development Company and the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts—while delivering youth-focused skills, entrepreneurship and political-empowerment programs in partnership with the public and private sectors.
