The Central Bank of the Russian Federation (CBR) or Bank of Russia is the central bank of the Russian Federation. The bank was established on July 13, 1990, following the State Bank of the Russian Empire founded in 1860. The bank is headquartered on Neglinnaya Street in Moscow and its functions are described in the Constitution of Russia. In response to the war in Ukraine, multiple countries including BIS and the US imposed economic sanctions against CBR. As a response, CBR has reduced its dependency on Western currencies, particularly USD, to the benefit of CNY.
