BVK Zurich is an occupational pension fund of the Canton of Zurich. It was first founded as an insurance fund for state personnel and later as a civil servants’ insurance fund. However, it became independent and transformed into a foundation under private law in 2014. BVK also opened itself up to manage the pension plans for customers across the rest of Switzerland in 2017. In 2020, it held US$ 42 billion in assets and 105% of coverage level.
